Numerical simulation of proppant embedment in rough surfaces based on full reverse reconstruction

Abstract In the hydraulic fracturing process of shale reservoir, proppant will embed and deform under action high closure stress. Thus, it is necessary to analyze mechanical influencing factors embedding in shale. This study reproduced rough fracture surface real rock slabs based on reverse reconstruction method obtained parameters slab proppant. this study, a numerical model for elastoplastic deformation surface, along with test experiments, proposed. The reliability verified by simulation experiment. Based model, closing stress width supporting were analyzed. results show that embedment degree different areas surface. Furthermore, concentration effect apparent. becomes significant after enters plastic stage roughness low Young's modulus or proppants small particle sizes moduli result smaller propped fracture.
